Hey everyone, I'll be in Seattle for the Emerald City Comic Con this weekend March 1-3.  If you're in the area please come see me!  Also there are like a million other incredible things to see at this show so you don't want to miss it.  I'll have my usual goods of poster prints, Boxer Hockey & Diesel books and my new B9 Kingdom art book debuting as well!  You can also find me at the Boom comics booth on Sunday signing and doodling Bravest Warriors stuff!

I'll also be appearing at these cons this year:

Calgary comics expo, Canada - April 20-28
TCAF, Toronto Canada - May 11-12
VanCAF, Vancouver BC - May 25-26
SDCC, San Diego California - July 18-21
SPX, Bethesda MA - September 14-15

Hopefully you can make it to one of them!  Especially if you're Canadian, apparently 'cause I will be all over that place.

See ya!
Hey everyone, there's only 24 hours left to get a pre-order on my B9 Kingdom kickstarter!

This season you can get art books from me, Gigi D.G. (of Cucumber Quest), Phil McAndrew (of Mad Magazine), and Emily Carroll (of awesome stuff like this:  [link] )

Not only that but you can get the previous season's entries at lower prices too.  That's art from Evan Dahm (Rice Boy), Becky Dreistadt & Frank Gibson (Tiny Kitten Teeth), KC Green (Gunshow), Yuko Ota & Ananth Panagariya (Johnny Wander), Emmy Cicierega (www.emmyc.com) Anthony Clark (Nedroid) Danielle Corsetto (Girls with Slingshots) Aaron Diaz (Dresden Codak).

That's some crazy stuff.  Check it out!  The higher it goes the more free stuff everyone gets!

If you're in the DC area this weekend, come see me at SPX!  I'm in the back corner with Topataco!  I'll have things for sale and friendly smiles to give.
Hey everyone,
got one last show coming up before the summer and it's a brand new one.  VanCAF in Vancouver, British Columbia this weekend May the 26-27th.
This is the first year for VanCAF, so if you're in the area come by and make it a good one!

And a special thank you to anyone that came to any of the other shows I've attended this year.   It's been a personal record-breaker for me and meeting new fans and old faces from conventions past is just simply the best part of my job.  Thanks again and again!

And I hope to see a few of you at VanCAF!
Hey guys, I will be at the following shows coming up in the next few months:

Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle.  March 30-April 1.  I will be at the TopatoCo booth.

Stumptown Comics Festival in Portland, Oregon.  April 28-29

TCAF in Toronto, Canada.  May 5th and 6th.

I will have both volumes of Boxer Hockey for sale as well as Diesel and poster prints and t-shirts and.. I dunno... stickersss and thinggsss.

Come say hi!
Hey everybody, I've had some people ask if I would open up commissions because they were looking to give them as gifts for Christmas so I thought I'd take on a few.
Right now I'm only taking one specific type because speed is the name of the game here.  I'll be taking five spots from DeviantArt to start, so it's very limited.  If everything goes smoothly than I might take a few more later.

Here is the type of commission:
$45
ONE CHARACTER.  I've got to be very firm on this one, sorry.
Color, simple shading w/simple BG
Examples:
[link]
[link] this one doesn't have any shading, but you get the idea

It can be your original character or a fan art, it doesn't matter.  Please have any available reference ready.

You can choose between an 8.5x11'' or 11x17'' inch canvas.  The picture will be created digitally and then you will receive both a PNG for easy viewing and high-res PDF file for any personal uses.  You can take it to be printed out, framed, whatever.

EDIT:  And we're full.  Thanks everyone!  If I can get through these fast enough I might take some more later and post another note.

Happy Holidays to everyone!
Hey everyone, it's that time of year again.  I'll be at Anime Weekend Atlanta [link] , looking awkwardly misplaced as usual amid the scores of anime artists.  Come on by and get...something?  I don't actually have too much to sell, so if you want something come quick!
I'll have a few Boxer Hockey and Diesel V1's, new Boxer Hockey buttons: [link] Bookmarks:  [link] , some various prints: [link]
And the last of the "I Am The Night" t-shirts.
Once I run out of stuff I'll do some sketch commissions just to stay busy.

I'll be at table A4. Hope to see you there!
Hey everyone, I get asked these questions all the time so I figured I'd put it all in one easy place.

First:  To buy Boxer Hockey books and various art prints of mine, head to TopatoCo:  [link]

Second: Patch Together has a few extra Diesel figures left, but only about 8 or 9: [link] pictures they have on the site really don't do it justice.  Here's a great one from DA user FacelessDrone: [link] here's one next to a P.O.P. Luffy for size comparison: [link]

Third:  Boxer Hockey T-shirts are available for pre-order, and if you want to support the webcomic this is the best way for me right now as I have to order them in bulk and would like to get a decent number: [link]

Lastly:  Diesel books are /normally/ available here:  [link] But is currently down because of the move.  Once I get situated I'll make a note of it here and re-open the page.

I'm currently preparing to move over 2,500 miles from Charlotte, NC to Eugene, OR for work related reasons.  The move is on incredibly short notice, and we're scrambling to make it happen, but any support from you guys is always incredibly appreciated.  Thanks!
Hey everyone, I'll be at New England Webcomics Weekend in East Hampton all weekend.
[link]

If you're in the area come stop by and say hey, or get a book with a free sketch or a print, or a just say hello.  I don't care just come see me.
Thanks for everyone that came out to AWA last weekend!  I had a great time as usual.  I also completely sold out of my first printing of Diesel!  So that went well.
The good news is that you can now pre-order your own copy right here:  [link]

Boxer Hockey volume one is now available for sale again as well:  [link]

Initial response to Diesel has been overwhelming to say the least.  I'm going to be shipping it around looking for any interested publishers so let's hope for the best on that.

Thanks as always everyone for all your support.  It means the world to me.
Hey everyone, just a reminder that I'll be at Anime Weekend Atlanta all weekend this weekend.

weekend.

Come buy and snag a sketch commission, Boxer Hockey book, get a look at the Diesel book, which you can pre-order at the show, and look through some of my old original art from the earliest Boxer Hockey pages.  Also we can be best friends for everest.

I'm located in the VERY back corner at table A6.  Look for my big ol' banner and come say hi!

(Diesel will be available for sale online next week at Dieselcomic.com)
Hey everyone, sorry it's been so quiet around here lately.  It's been a bit of a crazy month.  From graduating college to Heroes Con and then a sudden flood of freelance work and quitting my day job at CVS... it's been wild.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of freelancing I can't actually show you any of the stuff I'm working on.  That kind of sucks, but here's something that doesn't suck:  The prelim sculpt pictures for Diesel are up on Patch Together:  [link] of course on this deviation:  [link]

You can still get one at the pre-order price here: [link]

You'll be seeing a lot more from me soon next month, but for now it's back to work on all these seecreett thiinggss
Hey everybody, come out to Heroes Con in downtown Charlotte today!  I'll be there all weekend with Boxer Hockey books and prints at table 133 in the far back corner.  The dark...lonely corner.  Come see me and get a sketch, or a book or a hearty handshake and a smile!
See you there!

Just to give everyone an update how the Diesel figure is progressing.
Only a few more pre-orders are needed for production to begin!  The pre-order page is right here:  [link]
Thanks to everyone that voted and has spread the word.  I wouldn't have gotten this far without you!  I don't make any significant amount of money off these figures, but at the end it will be just enough to cover the cost of printing the Diesel book.  Which has been a serious point of contention.

Plus!  Whoever pre-orders a Diesel figurine and can send me proof of their order confirmation will get a free sketch in their copy of the first Diesel issue when it goes on sale.  It's not much but it's the least I can do for such great support from you guys.

Oh, and Boxer Hockey books will be available this June!  You'll know how and where to get them when they're available, trust me.  They'll be packed with little notes and sketches to make it a worthwhile experience.  Look forward to it!

Thanks again!

Hey guys, I think we should make this happen:  [link]
For those not familiar with Patch Together, it's a site where people submit designs and then if they get enough votes they'll make a figure based off the design that you can order.  Like many of you I'm sure, Having a figure of one of my characters has always been kind of a dream.  Help me achieve my dreams, friends.  Herp me.  Herp me prease.
Maybe if it works out I'll get a Rittz and Frog one done too.
Go vote plox!  [link]

I don't care what preconceived hang-ups you might have about Dreamworks, or if you think the commercials make it look "stupid"  You all need to go see How To Train Your Dragon.  Saying it's Dreamworks best movie yet doesn't even begin to cover it.  It is, quite frankly, everything an animated movie should be.  Make note that I don't say this kind of thing lightly, but even Pixar needs to watch their ass after this one.  You are doing yourself a SERIOUS disservice if you miss out on it.

Just go see this movie.

All I can think about is how much I want to see it again already.

Most of you probably know about the webcomic The Meek: [link] because it's probably the most extravagantly painted comic on the 'net.  The storytelling is also ace, and there's not really anything bad to say about it all.  BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY!
You should go vote for in TopWebComics today because the reward picture you receive should be of interest to you guys. vote here: [link]

Also, I neglected to make a journal post about it then, but two weeks ago I was lucky enough to have a fan-comic done by the terribly talented Tessa Stone.  Who should be teaching classes on how to layout comic pages at.. some great comic book university.  She's a mess with talent, it's quite intimidating.  Her comic is here: [link] can read Tessa's comic Hanna is Not a Boy's Name here: [link]

Getting fanart quite literaly always makes my day, but getting these two pieces from some of my favorite artists has had me walking on air.
And I know you all want me to be walking on air, don't you?  *nudge nudge*

I have no real reason to make a new journal entry, I just wanted to push down the last one.  After 300+ comments it started to feel like I was throwing a pity party or asking everyone to kiss my butt.  Which was not the intent.
I do appreciate everyone's comments though.  A new Boxer Hockey story arc starts next week, so I hope you'll look forward to it.

And not like, a gay-joke bear arc, but a canon story in direct continuation after the hamster arc.

See ya then!

So, as to be expected I've had dozens of people trying to tell me what to do with my web-comic.  And though I appreciate what must be genuine advice, I think it's important that I make a declaration here because I'm tired of repeating myself.  I'm going to post an email I received this morning and my response to it:

I understand the fact that you want to stick with Boxerhockey, but a LOT of people love your sonic comics.
Isn't that what caused you to gain doubled the amount of readers?
I'm not saying you have too but I'd enjoy reading those comics a lot more then BH.
Don't get me wrong, I love BH, but I would really enjoy if you made a separate part for sonic comics on your site/on another site.
To be dead honest, the reason I even know of these comics is because of the s. comics.
Trust me, you should continue your sonic work.
In fact you should have a separate comic on your site that just does game references like the sonic ones. It isn't hard, just paste another link onto your site.
Please hear me out on this.
Make more.

And my response:

Sorry, *name removed*.
I never cared about being famous or having a lot of readers.  I've only ever wanted to attract people to my site to see my comics with my characters.  Like I said, if people decide to stop coming then they can go.  I won't even block the door.  I did these Sonic comics just cause I had a funny idea and they were some quick comics to do during a busy time at school.  I wasn't expecting anyone outside of my initial readership to enjoy them.  I'm glad they've gone much further than that, but if I have to resort to making fan-comics just for people to stick around then I'd sooner just stop making a webcomic all-together.  I've been doing Boxer Hockey for almost 4 years now, and if anyone thinks I didn't know how to gain more readers I'd be quite insulted.  I could have had a video-game gag webcomic and had many times my readership by now.  It's not my goal.  My goal is to get experience telling my original stories with my original characters.  And the fact that I haven't hit it big in that regard is all the more reason to NOT concentrate on referential humor but instead do exactly the opposite.  If you yourself decide to stop reading because I don't continue with the Sonic comics, then I'm disheartened but not the least swayed in my resolve.  There are a thousand places you can go to laugh about video games on the internet, but right now my goal is to make BoxerHockey.com a one-of-a-kind place to visit.
Thank you

-Tyson

Look guys, I love Sonic.  But I'm not trying to run a Sonic webcomic.  And the hundreds of people expecting me to just turn-tail on the comic I've been working on for 4 years just because they just found these Sonic comics is a bit depressing.  These comics weren't made to be a bait-and-switch.  I really didn't think anyone but my original readers were going to see them.  But they're done.  But if they're all you wanted, then I hope you remember them fondly and maybe one day you'll be back when Boxer Hockey is good enough to warrant your attention on its own.
*salute*
